I founded Americans Helping Americans® in 1990 in part as a way to give back to those, and their families, who devoted years of their lives ensuring the freedoms we as citizens of the United States enjoy today.
I am proud to be a veteran myself, having joined the U.S. Army Air Corps (later the U.S. Air Force), in 1946 following my graduation from high school. And I am honored to have been able to serve my country in active duty service on three separate occasions as well as more than three decades in the Air Force Reserves, retiring with the rank of colonel.
At Americans Helping Americans® we have a saying “every day is Veterans Day” because every day we work with our partners in West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and elsewhere rehabilitating homes and constructing accessibility ramps for elderly and disabled veterans, and delivering hot meals and food boxes specifically for veterans to help them get through the month as they struggle to make do on meager fixed incomes. Our story on Jimmie Herrell and his family is just one way we have been able to make a difference in the lives of veterans.
To support future generations of Americans I have established the Col. Krizek Legacy Society and have personally included Americans Helping Americans® in my estate plans. I hope you will join me in this very special way to honor American veterans and so many other remarkable people both young and old who share this incredible country with us.
